Blood Bound

VW mechanic Mercy Thompson isn't your normal girl and neither are her friends. So when her friend Stefan, the Scooby Doo loving tee-shirt wearing vampire asks her to repay a favor, she thinks what could go wrong.
Stefan has been sent to deliver a message and he needs Mercy's special talents, because Mercy is a walker, one with native magic that allows her to change into a coyote. She is to be a witness for Stefan if things should go wrong. This is no ordinary vampire they go and visit, his a sorcerer, one who has invited in a demon and is now able to use his magic. He's strong and sadistic and Mercy finds herself way over her head.
Now both the vampires and the local wolf pack are involved and when one of the people she is closest turns up half dead and her other friends are missing Mercy will do what it is she does best, risk everything in hopes of saving those she cares about.

Review
Blood Bound is the second book in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. Where the first book revolved around Mercy's relationship with the werewolves this second book delves into her friendship with Stefan the vampire. Stefan isn't like other vampires, he has an old VW bus painted to look like the Mystery Machine, with a life size Scooby Doo to ride shot gun. He wears tee shirts and jeans instead of the usual Dracula grab and he seems to a descent person as far as vampires go. But he's still a  vampire. And though I want so very much to like him, I get the feeling he's got his own agenda. Mercy is a strong character and her protect those she cares about is one of the reasons I enjoy these books, that and the fact that like me she can't stand to be told what to do. This book is fast paced and incredibly exciting, readers won't want to put it down.
