Mercedes "Mercy" Thompson isn't like other VW mechanics, she's also a walker. Born of native American magic Mercy has the ability to shape shift into a coyote. Moon Called is the first book in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. I've read a lot of series and I have to admit that this one is one of the best out there. Mercy is the type of girl I would be honored to call a friend. She's smart, funny, and loyal to a T. She risks everything for those she cares about. She's very few friends and the one's she has are mostly men, being a mechanic it's understandable. She has this rag-tag group o people in her life, some gay, some fae, some human but all people she would die for and she very nearly does. This book takes the tiredness of vampires and werewolves and gives it a fresh new take that leaves readers thoroughly entertained and captivated until the very end.
