Gunmetal Magic

Gunmetal Magic is a novel part of the Kate Daniel's world by Ilona Andrews. It takes place between Magic Slays and Magic Rises. This book is divided into two parts the first part is the story of Andrea Nash, Kate's best friend and coworker who happens to be beast kin. Jim the head of shifter security calls Andrea in to help with the murder of several shifters. She's been trained to work crime scenes so it should be a piece of cake. But nothing is never easy, Andrea has to work the case with a teenage hyena shifter and team up with her ex to get the bottom of this case. I like Andrea she's tough and has a hard time letting people in. She had a cruel up bringing and never quite got in touch with her wild side. In this story Andrea embraces her other half and lets go of the human life she made for herself. My favorite scene is when Kate walks in her officeto find Andrea in her warrior form bloody and disheveled having a drink. Kate doesn't even bat an eye, it just goes to show you how much Kate doesn't care what Andrea is she only cares about who she is.
The second half of this book is Kate's story and it is happening the same time as Andrea's. While on a date with the Beast Lord vampires run amok. Kate and Curran find themselves protecting a young boy in danger of a magical necklace. Kate and Curran must face drunken Vikings, mystical beasts, and a mysterious legend if they have the hopes of saving the boys life. I usually don't read novellas but I really enjoy the ones in this series. I like all the characters so I'm always willing to learn as much about them as possible. I think the scene with the Vikings is pure humor, there is nothing funnier then a drunken brawl between Vikings and supernatural beings is pure gold.

Rogue Wolf

Rogue Wolf is the fourth book in the Shifter Squad series by J.C. Diem. Despite what the tittle reads this book has very little to do with the rogue wolf and more t do with a succubus who's been picking off hikers in the woods of West Virginia. I really enjoyed the first three books, they were funny and I enjoyed the growing relationships between Lexi and the rest of the squad, but in this book Lexi becomes a doormat and instead of fighting for what she wants she sits by herself and cries. Don't get me wrong everybody needs a good cry every once and a while, but there are times you cry and there are times when you pull up your big girl panties and fight. The whole thing between Lexi and Reece in this book has made me seriously think twice about continuing the series. It goes from this cool bond to I don't want to be near you and I don't want to be part of the team either because you're not born shifters. He comes off as a dick and she lets him. He nearly strangles her and eventhough it wasn't his fault the moment he pays her attention everything is okay? I don't think so, she's being walked all over and she's suppose to be an alpha. It really bugs me. So, yeah I think I'm done with this series, I could care less how it ends.

Some Girls Bite

Some Girls Bite the first book in the Chicagoland Vampires Chloe Neill. Merit was a grad student from one of the influential families in Chicago. Then one night while walking across campus she's attacked then tree days later she wakes up in the back of a limo in a cocktail dress. That's only the beginning to the changes in her life. There's her roommate the new sorceress, her grandfather and his merry band of supernaturals that act as a go between for the supernaturals and the human police. And then there's Ethan Sullivan, the man who made her what she is. he has a reluctant attraction to him and the feelings are mutual. Vampire life is looking to be a difficult transition but Merit's going to go at it like she does everything else, with a high ponytail and a world of sass.
I like Merit's attitude. Her I'm my own person mentality. I like her snarkiness. I want her to be with Ethan but first I want him to pull his head out of his butt so he can see how truly amazing she is. But as we know men are stubborn so I figure it will take awhile.

Dead Until Dark

Dead Until Dark is the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. Sookie Stackhouse is just a simple waitress in a small town Louisiana bar. But Sookie is more than a crazy blonde, she's a telepath. Being able to hear thoughts can be exhausting but that all changes when Bill walks into her bar. Bill's a vampire and when Sookie's around him all she hears is silence. Then girls start being murdered and the wo prime suspects are the two men closest to Sookie her boyfriend Bill and her brother Jason. Sookie must use her powers to find the real killer before someone she loves is arrested or worse killed.
The character of Sookie Stackhouse is one of the most believable characters I've read. And to make it better she's not a damsels waiting to be saved nor is she a hard ass who wanders into danger just to fight a battle. She's an everyday girl who fights for her family and fights when backed into a corner. My favorite part of this book is how Sookie will laugh in the faces of vampires. It's not that she's clueless, she's just unfazed. I like that.

Magic Slays

Magic Slays is the fifth book in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. After leaving the Order of Merciful Aid for differences in opinions, Kate has now struck out on here by opening a business. The problem is business isn't exactly booming. So when one of the Red Guard show up offering to indorse Cutting Edge and Kate herself she knows it too good to be true but beggars can't be choosers.
Kate finds there's more to this case than meets the eye, Kate needs to find the missing man and fast because the fate of everyone just might lay in the balance.
Magic Slays is another great book in a even better series. Ilona Andrews takes a dark turn in his series when Kate's young ward Julie is infected with the shapeshifter virus. Kate has to make a lot of hard choices to save, even risk herself to fix this. I love the way everyone comes together in this book to save the city they all live in. And on top of everything I love the scene in the restaurant with the witch's family.

Night Rising

Stuntwoman Dawn Madison has never been on the best of terms with her father. When she receives a call letting her know he's gone missing, she doesn't hesitate to drop everything and fly back to L.A. But the P.I. firm Frank worked for isn't quite what she was expecting. From Kiko the little person psychic, Breisi the engineer extrordinar, and Jonah the boss and mysterious voice. Dawn will do anything to find her father even go along with the craziness of hunting vampires.
I liked this book it's a new take on vampires and a neat take on Hollywood. I'm intrigued by The Voice, I really want to know what his deal is. But this book is interesting and I recommend it to anyone who likes vampires.

Magic Bleeds

Magic Bleeds is the fourth book in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. Kate Daniels is a magical mercenary, she's paid to clean up other peoples messes. Especially the Pack, the local group of shape shifters, headed by the infuriatingly sexy Curran.
When she's called in to investigate a fight at The Steele Horse, a local bar, Kate soon realizes there's a new player in town. One that can cause shape shifters to flee I terror and cause a body to descend into a puddle of dieses. It also happens to be someone who personally knows her father.
This time might be too much for Kate because this time she's going up against family.
This book is a lot darker than the pervious books. It's also has more sad parts. But it also has one of my all time favorite scenes in any of the books. I love when Samien puts Kate on display in front of Curran and the chaos that ensues afterward. I'm in love with this book and its characters.

Magic Strikes

Magic Strikes is the third book in Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. Kate and crew are back. After a long day of keeping Atlanta safe, all she wants to do is go home, shower the varies types of blood that's drying on her body, and get some sleep. But of course that's not going to happen because Kate's life never goes smoothly. A dead shapeshifter and a run in with the packs' head of security makes her crave for bed that much more. When she finally makes it home it is only to a phone letting her know that her werewolf friend Derek is in trouble. Now Kate finds herself neck deep in problems involving the Midnight Games, an underground magical fight-club run by Atlanta's upper crust and an event Curran has strictly forbade the pack from entering the games.
Together with a handful of shifters Kate will defy Curran to save his people.
This is my favorite book of the Kate Daniels series. This book shows the depths that Kate is willing to go to save the people she cares about.

Mark of the Demon

Kara Gillian isn't your normal police detective, she's a demon summoner. When a murderer starts killing again Kara's the only one who can stop him. It will take the help of her quirky aunt, a sexy demonic lord, and a cute but odd FBI agent. Can Kara summon the courage to be able to stop the killer before all Hell breaks lose.

Review
Mark of the Demon is the first book in the Kara Gillian series by Diana Rowland. This book is not your typical demon story. It's a fresh take on something that's been around for thousands of years. Kara is a smart mouth, cop who trying to prove she has what it takes to be a detective. There are parts of this book that are a little on the long side, but what I really liked about this book is the mystery, who-done-it. I'm also a really big fan of Ryan there is something so a-dork-able about him. If you like demons and murder with a foul mouth heroine then you should read this book.
