Iron Kissed is the third book in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. So far in the series we have met the werewolves and we've met the vampires, now in this third installment Mercy gets herself wrapped up in fae business. But being a walker Mercy tends to see too much, and that causes the worst of the worst to come hunting her. These books keep getting better and better, when I read this series I find myself unable to put it down it's just that good.

Blood Bound

VW mechanic Mercy Thompson isn't your normal girl and neither are her friends. So when her friend Stefan, the Scooby Doo loving tee-shirt wearing vampire asks her to repay a favor, she thinks what could go wrong.
Stefan has been sent to deliver a message and he needs Mercy's special talents, because Mercy is a walker, one with native magic that allows her to change into a coyote. She is to be a witness for Stefan if things should go wrong. This is no ordinary vampire they go and visit, his a sorcerer, one who has invited in a demon and is now able to use his magic. He's strong and sadistic and Mercy finds herself way over her head.
Now both the vampires and the local wolf pack are involved and when one of the people she is closest turns up half dead and her other friends are missing Mercy will do what it is she does best, risk everything in hopes of saving those she cares about.

Blood Bound is the second book in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. Where the first book revolved around Mercy's relationship with the werewolves this second book delves into her friendship with Stefan the vampire. Stefan isn't like other vampires, he has an old VW bus painted to look like the Mystery Machine, with a life size Scooby Doo to ride shot gun. He wears tee shirts and jeans instead of the usual Dracula grab and he seems to a descent person as far as vampires go. But he's still a  vampire. And though I want so very much to like him, I get the feeling he's got his own agenda. Mercy is a strong character and her protect those she cares about is one of the reasons I enjoy these books, that and the fact that like me she can't stand to be told what to do. This book is fast paced and incredibly exciting, readers won't want to put it down.

Moon Called

Mercedes "Mercy" Thompson isn't like other VW mechanics, she's also a walker. Born of native American magic Mercy has the ability to shape shift into a coyote. Raised amongst the werewolves she has learned to keep her head down and stay out of other people's business. But when a young boy shows up at her shop looking for work Mercy can't turn him away. Sure he's a werewolf and a young one too, but Mercy can't help but want to take care of him. That's when things go to hell in a hand basket. Mercy must turn to her overbearing neighbor the handsome, control freak Adam Hauptman the local werewolf alpha and all around thorn in Mercy's side. Things go wrong and Adam is hurt and his human daughter has gone missing, add to that the dead werewolves littering both Adam and Mercy's property and Mercy knows she's in a heap of hot water. But something doesn't add up and Mercy doesn't know who to trust, so she decides to go to the one place she never thought she would return.... home.

Review
Moon Called is the first book in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. I've read a lot of series and I have to admit that this one is one of the best out there. Mercy is the type of girl I would be honored to call a friend. She's smart, funny, and loyal to a T. She risks everything for those she cares about. She's very few friends and the one's she has are mostly men, being a mechanic it's understandable. She has this rag-tag group o people in her life, some gay, some fae, some human but all people she would die for and she very nearly does. This book takes the tiredness of vampires and werewolves and gives it a fresh new take that leaves readers thoroughly entertained and captivated until the very end.

Eleventh Grave in the Moonlight is the eleventh installment of the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. After the way the last book ended Charley now finds herself feeling both good and bad about her future and the future of her daughter. In the yay column she managed to trap one of the gods of Uzan, in the boo column there are still two running amok and one of them happens to be her husband. When the ones closest to her start being effected by her war she risks her everything to make things right. This book by far is the most emotional book of the series so far. The ending makes me both crave to read the next book and run away, because I have a feeling it's going to be a heartbreaker.

The Curse of Tenth Grave

Charley Davidson, part-time private investigator full-time grim reaper, has a lot of questions, one of which is how to trap three nasty gods. The problem I one of those gods just happens to be her husband and worse yet he doesn't know it.  Add to that a homeless girl on the run for her life, an innocent man who's been charged with murder, and a pendant made of glass that contains a whole other dimension, Charley has her hands full. If she can take care of the whole evil gods destroying the world thing then were saved if not well....

Review
The Curse of Tenth Grave is the tenth installment of the Charley Davidson series. When we last saw Charley and the gang, Charley had just got her memory back. Now that they're back from New York Charley must relearn how to live after everything she's learned. Hilarity ensues when Charley meets a young girl on the run from a curse that's been killing kids. Now when you need to stash a kid who else do you go to but your local tattoo artist. Besides the sadness of missing Beep, the antics of this book brings back the witty humor and silliness that this series is known for.

The Dirt on the Ninth Grave

In the small town of Sleepy Hollow a mystery is afoot, it's not the story of the Headless Horseman that has people scratching their heads, it's the new woman with no recollection of who she is or her past. Her name is Janey Doer and she's working in a diner just trying to get by. So when she starts seeing dead people and odd things start to happen with some of the regulars she begins to wonder just who is she. No one can out run their past but it may take more than she's willing to give to make through the present.

The Dirt on the Ninth Grave is the ninth book in the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. This book is one of the most interesting books I've read in along time. After a traumatic event, Charley loses her memory and ends up in Sleepy Hollow,New York. Not knowing who she is, she does know she still has to survive. Eventhough she has no idea who she is she's still surrounded by those she loves. That's the part I love most about this book, you're there when she remeets and refalls in love with her family and friends. My favorite part was when Charley talks about the woman haunting her apartment and then you realize it's her Aunt Lil pulling a Mr.Wong so she can keep an eye on her. I loved this book, it made me fall in love the characters all over again.

Eighth Grave After Dark

With twelve hellhounds hot on her heels preg-tastic Charley Davidson is holed up in the one place that can keep her and her family safe: an old abandoned convent. Ready to pop both physically and metaphorically now that she's the sized of a beached whale. Thankfully there a new case that captured her attention, there's a departed nun hanging around and it seems to Charley she's trying to tell her something. It's a good thing for Charley that the scene of the crime just happened to be somewhere on the property because Charley has been forbidden from stepping foot off it.
But Charley has more things to worry about than the upcoming arrival of little Beep, her husband Reyse seems to be getting and sick and being the son of Satan that's not a normal thing. While the team searches for answers involving the twelve, Charley just wants answers. More convinced than ever that those closest to her have been drawn to her for a reason. But the good times don't last long because Charley's about to get a surprise she didn't see coming.
Review
Eighth Grave After Dark is the eighth installment of the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. This book revolves around one person: Beep. Charley is eight months pregnant and is going crazy locked behind the invisible border keeping the hellhounds out and the people she loves in. With those closest to her keeping secrets and the constant need to pee you can understand why she's not at her finest. You would thinking having a complete book revolving at one place would get a little boring. I mean how much trouble could one pregnant lady get into right? Only Charley Davidson has the super power to cause trouble without out even leaving her house, or well home away from home as the case may be. Her makeshift family is willing to follow her to the ends of the earth if it means keeping her little bundle of joy safe.  This book starts with a wedding and ends with a bang. One of the most heart-breaking books of the series.

Seventh Grave and No Body

The Twelve. Twelve of the most vicious demons have escaped from Hell and have one objective, kill Charley Davidson and to bring her mangled corpse to Satan on a silver platter. But Charley has more on her own plate than just a mob of monstrous beasts. For one her father has gone missing and the more she follows his tracks the more she realizes he was leading an investigation, one that has Charley questioning everything she ever thought she knew about him. Add to that a departed ex-BFF who just won't stop bitching, a string of disappearances with nothing in common except suicide notes that have authorities baffled, and a drop-dead fiancé who has attracted the eye of a local news woman who has more on her mind than just a sit down interview. Charley is not having the best week but she's bound and determined to protect her little slice of heaven on Earth.
Review
Seventh Grave and No Body is the seventh book in the Charley Davidson series by author Darynda Jones. Sixth Grave on the Edge ended with a bang. Now in tis seventh installment Charley's world has been turned upside down mostly because she is no longer drinking coffee. One of the things that makes this series great is its zany cast of characters. I love the way all these misfits have become this odd-ball family who have gone from hating eachother and in some cases trying to kill each other, to sitting around a table having meals together. I just adore the heart and humor that fills this series.

Sixth Grave on the Edge

Not much can get between Charley Davidson and her coffee, but after the sultry son of the devil asks for her hand in marriage, she has other things on her mind. I guess it's a good thing she doesn't have to think to drink. If she's going to marry Reyse Farrow then by golly she's going to know more about his past and when the very special agent with the F.B.I., Kit Carson asks her to look into a cold case, the answers to her fiancé's past might be closer than she thinks.
Unfortunately another case falls into lap, or well walk into her bedroom in the middle of the night and put a gun to her head. The men who broke and enter wants Charley to find them a woman, not just any woman, this woman  is in the witness protection program and if Charley doesn't find her then one of her friends will die.
Add to that a desperate father who believes he lost his soul in a poker game, a mother convinced her departed son is still roaming the world, and a close friend who is having a hard time coming to terms with his new abilities. Good thing Charley is good at multitasking, because she'll have her hands full.

Sixth Grave on the Edge is the sixth installment in the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. May I just begin by how much I appreciate the fact Darynda Jones numbers her book making it easy for us to keep them in order. Since I've been reading this series one after the other, it has become easy for me to see the change in the story. Though the first few books had dark spots through the books, the longer the series continues the darker and grittier the books get. I fear by the time I read the last book I will be completely devastated. But like an addict I'm hooked and I refuse to give up now because of a few tears. These books just keeping getting better.

Fifth Grave Past the Light

Charley Davidson isn't your everyday private investigator, she's a grim reaper, the grim reaper and she's been a bit distracted since the sexy son of Satan has moved in next door. But she's promised to keep her distance from Reyse Farrow since he's become her top suspect in an arson case she's been working. But when departed women start showing up in her apartment, under her bed, in her shower, and crawling across her ceiling, each one lost, terrified and confused. After getting a visit from a dead girl who isn't quite dead, Charley must turn to Reyse when she learns her sister might be next. But he wants something in return, is Charley ready to give it to him what he wants even if it means saving her sister.
Review
Fifth Grave Past the Light is the fifth book in the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. This book has all the things that has made the Charley Davidson series what it's been, suspense and mystery, laugh-out-loud humor, and an unconventional romance filled with hot and steamy moments. The arrival of twenty-seven departed women who are trap in their own world of terror, it's truly heart breaking especially when one of those women is a seven year old girl. This book is equal parts light and darkness, and it may be to much for some readers.

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet

Sometimes being the Grim Reaper is well grim. After spending two months recovering from being tortured and nearly killed at the hands of monster, Charley Davidson has been busy in a bubble of self-pity. But when a woman shows up at her door claiming someone is trying to kill her Charley believes it's time to leave her house, or at least put some clothes on. But the more Charley hears this woman's story and the more the people in her life claim the woman is insane the more Charley believes her.
In the meantime the city of Albuquerque is taken hostage by an arsonist Charley fears  the sexy son of Satan might be involved. Add to that a strange familiarity Charley has with a new group of bank robbers known as the Gentlemen Bank Robbers, and Charley's plate pretty close to full. Just when Charley thinks her life is getting back to normal, and that might very well be the problem.

Review
Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet is you guessed it the fourth installment in the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. The world of Charley Davidson only gets better with each book, and this book was no exception. Charley and her rag-tag group of loved ones is as always entertaining. One of my favorite parts of this book is the Gentlemen Bank Robbers, nothing was funnier to me than Charley walking right into a bank while it's being robbed and then acts surprised when her loveable biker gang goes and kidnaps her not because they're cruel or looking to hurt, but because they think it's funny. This book is full of humor, action, and twists you won't see coming.

Ye she bound him to his body but girl a girl a break. How is she suppose to find a missing woman, deal with a hinky doctor, and calm a murderous biker gang when the prince of darkness won't give his plans for seduction...... and revenge?

Review
Third Grave Dead Ahead is the third installment of the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones.
This book picks up about two weeks after the prior book. Charley's not sleeping which sets the stage for lots of humor. But though this book is just as funny as the first two books of the series if not more so, this book delves into more dark and sadder areas. Beware here lies spoilers! To me the saddest part was when Artemis, the loveable Rottweiler guard dog passes. I know I should be more upset with the picture of young Reyse and believe me I was thoroughly disturbed. My heart broke when she died, I'm such an animal lover I took it hard.  But alas everything turns out ok. I liked this book because we finally see more than just the smart-ass side of Charley, we see her broken and betrayed and we get a good look at what a fighter she truly is.

Second Grave on the Left

Hanging around dead people can get pretty complicated, for part-time private investigator and full-time grim reaper Charley Davidson complicated is her middle name. The dead find her bright and sparkly, demons find her irresistible, and the son of Satan wants to seduce and claim her.

When Charley's best friend, neighbor, and slave... I mean receptionist, Cookie comes to Charley to help find a her friend Mimi, who disappeared five days earlier, Charley expects it be an open and shut  case. When cryptic messages, fake F.B.I. agents and three strange men all sporting guns start showing up can Charley stay alive long enough to put the pieces together?

Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (also known as the supermodel son of Satan) has left his corporal body and is haunting Charley. As his body is being tortured by demons Reyes will do anything to those same demons from finding Charley even if that means letting his body die. Will Charley be able to solve a missing persons case and save the man she loves, and is there enough coffee in the world to aid her?
 Review
Second Grave on the Left by Darynda Jones is the second book in the Charley Davidson series. Taking place a week after the first book we dive back into the crazy fun world of Charley and her hilarious family and friends. What I really like about this book is how much more the other characters are involved in this book. This book begins with Cookie Charley's best friend comes storming in to Charley's apartment in a tornado of flying clothes and drags Charley out of bed in her bunny slippers and then proceeds to try to stuff her the trunk of her car, and this is within the first few pages. The rest of the book is filled with even more shenanigans. If you enjoyed First grave on the right then Second grave on the left is going to be right up your alley.
